We’re almost there! I picked my first quart of blueberries this weekend and had them on my cereal. They still need a little more ripening but the weather calls for hot and humid days this week which should speed up the process. We decided today to open on Friday, July 11 which is one day sooner than last year’s opening. That means we need to run around and work on getting all the little details wrapped up in preparation for opening.
The picture above was shot looking out over the pond at the entrance to our first field of blueberries. Unfortunately, the picture does not show the birds above who are absolutely ecstatic over the ripening berries. Sometimes I think we have every bird in the state of New Hampshire setting up house on the field perimeter. Good thing there are a lot of berries!
My husband wins the prize for working the longest hours in the field this holiday weekend. The picture above is from today after a long day of mowing which involved fixing a broken lawn mower. I think he’ll be happy to go to his real job on Monday.
Last but not least is a picture of my hard working sister who is visiting from New York and my mother who were cheering on the lawnmower and Michael as they made their way up the hill. Every team needs a cheerleader!

Went on line to check out the website and found this blog-very impressed. Love all the “Cindy” photos!! (you will pay for those)
Since none of our plants have any berries this year-we will be up. I did not prune this year so I will need some pointers. Maybe thats why they did not produce, since they are old plants-either that or no bees.
Good luck on Friday-it will be cool by then
